Our practice has developed over the years in the transportation industry particularly in a rail-related project with the expansion and upgrading of Malaysian rail since the late 1990’s. Building on work undertaken at the time in relation to industrial disputes, the leasing, maintenance and movement of rolling stock as well as on the complex arrangements for spares provision; we have successfully expanded the practice to encompass regulatory, infrastructure and light rail work enabling us to maintain the leading position among legal practices in the Malaysian rail industry.

The team has been instrumental in the facilitation of the feasibility study, negotiations and legal documentation concerning the enhancement of the public transport system within the Klang Valley. The work concerned the fleet expansion of the Light Rail Transit system, which involved the purchase of a new fleet, upgrade of the Automatic Train Control System (ATC) and wayside E&M System upgrades. The pivotal role played by our team played in structuring the legal and commercial facets between our clients and their foreign suppliers and service providers ensured that the negotiations went on faultlessly.

Our team has participated in other dimensions of the transport industry. This ranges from commercial negotiations, import agreements for vehicle supply to the drafting of various Conditions of Contract for building, design and engineering works in accordance to international standards pursuant to the FIDIC model.

This team has also the experience in tying up business and commercial aspects for the purchase of imported cars and the drafting of legal documentation concerning imports. We have also collaborated business deals between our clients and local car manufacturers concerning the purchase of its assets (vehicles & engines) for the purpose of repackaging and selling it to suit the Malaysian market.
